Anna Castelli Ferrieri

Italian architect and industrial designer Anna Castelli Ferrieri was the first woman to graduate from the prestigious Polytechnic University of Milan. In 1949, she co-founded Kartell with her husband Giulio Castelli, with the aim of producing high-quality design objects made from plastic.

Prior to this, she had established her own architecture studio, working on projects in cities such as Milan, Turin and Genoa. One of her key architectural achievements was the design of Kartell’s headquarters in Binasco. From 1966 onwards, she began designing products for Kartell and, in 1976, was appointed the company’s Art Director. Among her most iconic creations is the Componibili modular storage unit.
